I am a 7th grade English and reading teacher at Lee. This is my 13th year of teaching and my 8th year teaching at Lee. Being a reading teacher is one of my greatest blessings in life, but my greatest blessing is my four year old daughter. I have my Bachelor’s degree from ULM and my Master’s degree from LSU(Shreveport). I have wanted to be a teacher most of my life. In first grade a teacher asked me what I want to be when I grow up and my answer has never changed since that day. “I want to be a teacher,” is what I said.

I love reading and have seen in my life and in the lives of many of my family members that a good education is the key to unlocking the chains of poverty and inequality.

I hope this year gives you a greater love of reading. As a class, we will read at least four novels, hopefully more, and you’ll read countless other books independently. A goal of mine for this year is to have you
fall in love with reading or at least find one book that you really enjoyed and would recommend to future 7th grader.
